Pump International delivers drinking water solution to Pakistan : Press release
Pump International, an innovative environmentally friendly British manufacturer based in Camborne, Cornwall has developed a customised water filter and pump as part of a safe drinking water solution with partner organisation the water charity - World Water Works. This week 200 customised Water Filter Pumps will be transported to Pakistan, followed by a further 400 over the next two weeks. The filter pump is a key part of the World Water Works Water-Survival Boxes supplied to Humanity First UK. Humanity First UK staff based in Islamabad will be responsible for getting the boxes through customs and delivered to the Pakistan National Disaster Management Agency, who will organise distribution to families most in need. Cholera has been diagnosed in Pakistan and water born diseases will be the biggest challenge in this terrible tragedy. The filter pump was specifically designed at the request of World Water Works. The Filter Pump is lightweight and does not require any electricity which makes it a critical tool for this humanitarian crisis. Pump International have worked closely with World Water Works. Pump International is launching a drinking water division and is developing other products to be used in disaster situations. Current developments include a field hospital conversion filter pump, removes all impurities from water. The field hospital filter pump requires no electricity but is able to convert one pint of contaminated water into clean, safe drinking water within twenty seconds. Additionally a desalination filter pump is being developed. This latter pump will remove impurities including salt from water and this pump will be used in disaster situations where salt water has contaminated fresh water, or will be used by boat owners who want to be able to convert salt water into drinking water, without using electricity or any external power source. The Drinking water division embraces the company environmental agenda, which includes the development of solar powered water pumps, hand powered industrial sewage removals pumps, pressure test pumps, and marine pumps.
